Ten writers and directors were determined suspects and these men became known as the Hollywood Ten (US History 1). These men declined to answer the questions asked by the HUAC as to whether or not they were members of the Communists Party. However, the House of Representatives would later go on to reprimand them for thei r lack of cooperation and were intent and fined (US History 1). These men fined and jailed became known as the Hollywood Ten and were go about with miserly attempts towards finding jobs in the entertainment industry.

Later on, five hundred other state involved in entertainment were any blacklisted or graylisted; graylisted meaning that they were suspected of being a startle of the Communist Party but never convicted (US History 1-2).
